Raton Basin 2005 Expansion Project
Colorado Interstate Gas Company (CIG), a subsidiary of El Paso
Corporation, has constructed a pipeline project that will expand
the company’s existing pipeline system in the Raton Basin
of south-central Colorado and extend to the panhandle of Oklahoma.
The approximately 102-mile pipeline was built in several separate
sections, consisting of 16-inch, 20-inch, and 24-inch segments of
pipeline. These segments were built adjacent to existing pipelines
located in Las Animas County and Baca County in Colorado, Morton
County in Kansas, and Texas County in Oklahoma. (See the map on
this page for more detail.) In addition, CIG installed a new compressor
unit at an existing compressor station in Beaver County, Oklahoma.
All facilities were placed in service during late 2005.

The Raton Basin 2005 Expansion Project added approximately
105 thousand dekatherms of additional pipeline capacity needed to
transport natural gas from the Raton Basin to markets in Colorado
as well as mid-continent pipeline interconnections. This project
helps to meet the growing demand for clean burning natural gas as
an important part of our national energy infrastructure.
El Paso Corporation provides natural gas and related energy products
in a safe, efficient, dependable manner. The company owns North
America’s largest natural gas pipeline system and one of North
America’s largest independent natural gas producers.
